New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, on Monday, said that the state will adopt the Centre of Disease’s (CDC) new mask and social distancing guide for the people who are fully vaccinated. On Wednesday, the three tr-states will be lifting the rest of the remaining virus restrictions.

Governor Cuomo, in a Tweet, listed out the things that New York will be welcoming on Wednesday.

However, masks are still to be used on public transit, in nursing homes and healthcare facilities in accordance with the new federal guidelines, the governor said.

“We have to reopen. We have to reopen smart, with a cautious eye. We have to get back to life and living and we have to do it the way New Yorkers do it,” NBC New York quoted him as saying.

“Unvaccinated people should continue to wear a mask and social distance, but if you are vaccinated you are safe — no masks, no social distancing,” he further added.

This announcement came on the heels of CDC’s new guidelines that said that fully vaccinated people could remove masks indoors.

Currently, more than half of New York’s adult populace has been vaccinated.
