‘It is crass’: Joe Biden’s views on attacking children of political rivals
- It's a specific decision. And I just think it's crass, Biden said
- Biden was asked why he has not highlighted concerns that Trump's family is profitting off his position
- Trump several times attacked his challenger's son Hunter Biden
It is “crass” to go after the children of one’s political rivals, Democratic Party presidential candidate Joe Biden said in an interview. The former vice president was asked why he has not highlighted the concerns that US President Donald Trump’s family is profiting from his position in the White House.
In an interview on the podcast “Pod Save America” released on Saturday, Biden said, “It’s a specific decision. And I just think it’s crass.” Trump has time and again attacked his challenger’s son Hunter Biden over drug addiction.
The 77-year-old said, “…I’m running against Donald Trump, not his children.” He added that the Americans want to hear about their families, not about “Trump’s family” or his family.

Biden said that he is very proud of his family, adding, “It’s just not how I was raised. It’s that basic. It’s Donald Trump,” The Hill quoted.
Many people have raised concerns about Trump’s family members getting profit from his presidency, as some Democrats have also said that Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner holding positions in the White House as senior advisers present conflicts of interest.

However, last year Biden had attacked the US government’s family members’ roles in his office, where in an interview he said it was “improper” for Trump to have his daughter and son-in-law in White House positions.
“If I get elected president, my children are not going to have offices in the White House. My children are not going to sit in on Cabinet meetings,” Biden said, The Hill quoted.
