Joe Biden picks Kamala Harris as his running mate

Putting an end to the speculations, Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, has announced Kamala Harris as his vice-presidential running mate. She is the first black woman to serve in the role.
“I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked Kamala Harris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate,” Biden tweeted announcing his decision.
Kamala Harris and Biden will be accepting the nominations formally at the Democratic National Convention, which will be conducted virtually next week.

Susan Rice, one of the front runner was among the first to congratulate Kamala Harris.
“Senator Harris is a tenacious and trailblazing leader who will make a great partner on the campaign trail,” said the former diplomat in a statement. Stacey Abrams and Gretchen Whitmer, two other vice president contenders also tweeted in support of Kamala Harris.
Meanwhile, the Biden campaign announced that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will address the people tomorrow in Wilmington, Delaware. The time of the event has not been announced yet.
