Within Halema’uma’u Crater, impressive and huge lava fountains are currently on exhibit. Given the release of potentially dangerous volcanic gases and the existence of active lava flows, the US Geological Survey (USGS) has issued a red warning for the Kilauea volcano. Authorities have linked this eruption to an increase in seismic activity that occurred recently. It’s crucial to understand that the general public is not now under any immediate threat.

The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency stated on X, that the current eruption “does not present a direct lava threat to communities.” However, it should be noted that exposure to volcanic gases and particles can cause respiratory problems in some people.

The Hawaii EMA in a statement said, “At this time, lava at Kilauea is confined to the summit and does not pose a lava threat to communities. However, eruptions emit volcanic particles and gases which may create breathing problems for people exposed.”

According to the USGS, the eruption came at a time of increased seismic activity and a noticeable “rapid uplift” of the top. The organization changed Kilauea’s aviation color code from orange to red in reaction to the eruption, and it also elevated its alert status from watch to warning.

Kilauea is one of the planet’s most active volcanoes, and it is located within the restricted area of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Numerous residences and commercial establishments were destroyed in 2019 as a result of a string of earthquakes and a large eruption at Kilauea.
