Kyrsten Sinema, senator from Arizona, was trolled on social media for wearing a bright yellow outfit at the State of the Union on Tuesday.
“Did Big Bird dress Kyrsten Sinema?” a Twitter user wrote.
“Shocked that Kyrsten Sinema’s dress yells “LOOK AT ME! I’M RIDICULOUS!” another one tweeted.
“Kyrsten Sinema got confused and thought this was the Grammys #sotu2023” a third one added.
The Independent Arizona Senator was seen in the House Chamber in Washington D.C. in a bright yellow dress which stood out in the crowd.
“She is screaming for attention,” one user wrote, while another added “Kyrsten Sinema would rather be on TMZ than CSPAN.”
Sinema sat with mostly Republican lawmakers, including Senator Mitt Romney of Utah. Conservative-leaning Democrat Joe Manchin of West Virginia was also seen next to them.

The 46-year-old is a former social worker serving as the senior United States senator from Arizona. She has held the seat since 2019. A former member of the Democratic Party, Sinema became an independent in December 2022 but still caucuses with the party. She served three terms as a state representative for the 15th legislative district from 2005 to 2011, one term as the state senator for the 15th legislative district from 2011 to 2012, and three terms as the United States representative for the 9th district from 2013 to 2019.
Sinema is the first openly bisexual person and second openly LGBT woman (after Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin) elected to the United States Congress.
