In her lifetime, Leslie Stahl married twice. In 1964, she got married for the first time to biologist and doctor, Jeffrey Gordon. But the couple got divorced in 1967. Gordon passed away in 2020.
Stahl married Aaron Latham in 1977, a decade after her first marriage. Latham was an American journalist who is best known for penning the piece that served as the basis for the film “Urban Cowboy.” Sadly, Latham passed away in July 2022 from complications related to Parkinson’s illness.

In the 1960s, Stahl started her television broadcasting journey at Boston’s original Channel 5, WHDH-TV. She entered CBS News in 1971 and quickly moved up the ladder to become a reporter in 1974. Lesley has often credited her CBS News position to the Federal Communications Commission’s inclusion of women in its affirmative action mandate in 1972.
Lesley Stahl over time rose to the position of White House reporter under the regimes of George H. W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Jimmy Carter.
