The demonstraors gathered at the Lincoln Memorial to honour the 57th anniversary of Reverend Martin Luther King Junior’s “I have a dream” address. Friday’s event was called as the ‘Commitment March: Get Your Knee Off Our Necks’. This name serves as a reference to George Floyd’s custodial killing in broad daylight. Jacob Blake, another African American, was shot several times in the back in Kenosha, leaving him paralyzed. The relatives of Blake, Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Eric Garner delivered speeches at the march. Civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III – the eldest son of Martin King Jr. also joined the families.
