North Kansas City shooting: What we know so far

Missouri State Highway Patrol officials issued a “Blue Alert“, Tuesday, after law enforcement officer, Daniel Vasquez, was reportedly shot while conducting a traffic stop.
North Kansas City officials reported the 32-year-old officer died due to the shooting, as per KMOX St Louis News.
An individual taking an active shooter e-training Tweeted about the incident, saying it is “unreal”.
The initial incident took place at 21st Street in North Kansas City at 10:41 AM. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in question, and as per the authorities, a man got out and started firing, injuring the cop in question. He then fled in, what has been identified as, a grey Ford Taurus with a temporary Missouri tag – 03GU43. The vehicle was last seen going westbound on 21st Street from Clay Street.
Clay County sheriff’s department is coordinating media for the North Kansas City police.

The driver was identified as a white male with brown hair, who’s carrying an unknown firearm.
Sheriff Will Aikin spoke to the media about the incident, saying that the cop pulled over the vehicle because of expired temporary tags. Vasquez was taken to the KU medical centre, and multiple agencies helped search for the suspect who’d fled, as per the report.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s office, a person of interest in the shooting of the North Kansas City police officer has been taken into custody. He surrendered to the cops. His name hasn’t been released yet.
Investigators are processing the scene and will present the case to the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office for pressing additional charges.
