Beto O’Rourke went off on a member of the crowd who laughed while the Democrat was speaking about the impact of gun violence and the Uvalde school shooting.

In a video that has gone viral online, O’Rourke can be seen speaking about the Uvalde shooting which left 19 children and two teachers dead and how the gun had been legally purchased by the shooter.

While speaking about how the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle was originally designed to penetrate a soldiers helmet from 500 feet away, laughter can be heard from someone in the crowd. O’Rourke wheels around in the video, yelling at the person, ” It may be funny to you mother f****r, but it’s not funny to me.”

The shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde County which left 19 children and two teachers dead has been described a one of the deadliest school shooting since the Sandy Hook shooting. The incident left many across the nation with less faith in the police than they had before after news reports revealed that the police had held off on providing the children and teachers with assistance for over an hour.

In the following weeks, the police department doubled down on their response to major outcry from both sides of the aisle. Texas governor, Greg Abott had called the police “heroic” leading to criticism from the press and Democrats. O’Rourke who is running for the governor’s seat during the midterm elections on November 8, 2022 had confronted Abbott during a press conference of the shooting saying, “You are doing nothing. You are offering up nothing. You said this was not predictable. This was totally predictable when you choose not to do anything.” His actions drew criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike.

However, O’Rourke is hoping that the recent shooting in Texas can reset the governor race and help him bring stricter gun control laws to a state which has not seen a Democrat governor in the last 30 years.
