Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf said Wednesday he had tested positive for COVID-19, Reuters reported.

The 72-year-old took to Twitter to announce the news. He said: “During a routine test yesterday, I tested positive for COVID-19. I have no symptoms and am feeling well and I am in isolation at home.”

The Democrat, who is serving as the 47th Governor of Pennsylvania since January 2015, said his wife Frances Wolf too had been tested but the results are awaited.

“I am following CDC and Department of Health guidelines. Frances has been tested and, as we await the result, is quarantining at home with me.”

In a follow-up tweet, Wolf asked the citizens of Pennsylvania to take him as an example and realise that no one is immune from the virus.

“Following all precautions as I have done is not a guarantee, but it is what we know to be vital to stopping the spread of the disease.”

He requested everyone to abide by the COVID-19 protocols that are in place.

“I ask all Pennsylvanians to wear a mask, stay home as much as possible, socially distance yourself from those not in your household, and, most of all, take care of each other and stay safe,” he added.
