1 person injured as police declare suspect dead in latest shooting in Branford, Connecticut

One person was wounded and the shooter dead as another shooting rocked US on Tuesday in Branford, Connecticut.

The shooter was barricaded and involved in a standoff with the police on the Main Street, local media reports said.

The police has now said declared the scene as safe as the suspect was found dead in the building he was holed up.

The one wounded civilian was sent to a hospital and is said to have sustained non life threatening injuries, Hartford Courant reported.

Main Street near Cherry Hill will remain closed until further notice.

“Please avoid this area, the scene is not safe. Several police agencies are assisting and the South Central Regional SWAT Team is arriving,” an earlier police facebook post said.

“Please do not live stream video,” another post said.

The State Police was also at the scene to assist with the situation.

“Anyone traveling in or around the area use alternate routes & avoid the area. The scene is active fluid & ongoing. Updates will provide will be provided when available,” the Connecticut State Police had tweeted during the standoff.

Connecticut Senator Christine Cohen had also advised residents to stay away from the area.

“Praying for everyone’s safety,” Cohen tweated.
