Reema Shah and Neha Gupta, Indian American women, named for White House Counsel
- Neha Gupta has been named for the position of Associate Counsel for the White House

- Joe Biden is set to have the most diverse and inclusive administration till now
The incoming US President, Joe Biden, nominated Neha Gupta and Reema Shah, who are Indian-Americans, to the White House Counsel.
Neha Gupta, nominated for the position of Associate Counsel for the White House, is currently serving in the Office of the General Counsel for the transition of the incoming administration while Reema Shah, who has been nominated for Deputy Associate Counsel, was a part of Biden’s debate preparation team, reported AFP.
Reema Shah, a graduate from top educational institutions in US like Yale Law School, Harvard and Cambridge, served as a legal clerk to Judge Sri Srinivasan and Justice Elena Kagan on the US Court of Appeals in Washington.

Meanwhile, Neha Gupta, a graduate from Stanford Law School and Harvard College, has also had her fair share of experience in the legal field as she was previously engaged with the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office as the Deputy City Attorney and participated in public protection advocacy, litigation of statutory and constitutional challenges and administrative decisions.
US President-elect has also nominated personalities like Martine Cicconi, Funmi Olorunnipa, Ashley Deeks, Tona Boyd, Samiyyah Ali, Megan Ceronsky and Sean Crotty for representation in the White House Counsel, reported AFP.
The transition committee said that these chosen individuals, under the guidance of White House Counsel Dana Remus, will contribute in restoring people’s faith in the rule of law and accountability of government institutions.

President-elect Joe Biden said, “My administration has no greater task than restoring faith in American government. Our White House Counsel’s Office will be built upon a foundation of integrity and honesty. This qualified and crisis-tested legal team will ensure that this administration is accountable and always operates in service of the American people”.
Incoming Vice President Kamala Harris said, “The American people deserve a government that is open, honest, and transparent. These dedicated public servants will help us meet the unprecedented challenges facing our nation while upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity”.
