The Republican National Convention is set to take place on Monday. Unlike the Democratic National Convention which was a virtual affair, Republicans will be gathering in person in Charlotte.

However,  unlike the previous conventions which brought together thousands of delegates, party leaders, activists and celebrities for receptions, and speeches, this year’s convention will be limiting the number of attendees as well as adhere to safety guidelines due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

According to BBC, the party has confirmed that every individual will need to wear masks and maintain social distancing. Every attendee will be be given self-swab COVID-19 tests before travelling and entering the hotels. Their temperatures will be checked and each attendee will need to wear Bluetooth badges which will help in tracking and contact tracing.

Although US President Donald Trump had initially said that he will accept his nomination in person; later, he said that he will be accepting his nomination from the White House.

According to planners, Trump will be featuring on all four days of the convention. The Republican programme is also set be a mix of pre-recorded and live speeches, just like the Democratic convention.
