Richard Sherman, the former Seattle Seahawks star known for his role in securing a Super Bowl victory, finds himself embroiled in legal issues once again. Early Saturday morning, Sherman was arrested by the Washington State Patrol for suspected DUI in King County, marking a troubling point in his post-NFL career. Trooper Rick Johnson confirmed the arrest to Fox 13 Seattle, though no charges have been formally filed yet.

This incident is not Sherman’s first encounter with the law. In July 2021, he was arrested for attempting to forcefully enter the home of his father-in-law, Raymond Moss, in an episode that was captured on video. Although initially facing a felony charge for burglary and domestic violence, that charge was later dropped. Sherman ultimately faced five misdemeanor charges, including second-degree criminal trespass, third-degree malicious mischief, resisting arrest, DUI, and reckless endangerment of roadway workers.

In a plea deal made in 2022, Sherman pled guilty to second-degree criminal trespass and first-degree negligent driving, along with speeding in a roadway construction zone. This agreement spared him additional jail time but required him to undergo two years of court supervision, complete 16 hours of community service, pay court fees and restitution, and attend a DUI education course.

The 2021 incident showcased a distressing scene captured on surveillance video. Sherman is seen aggressively trying to enter Moss’s residence, using physical force against the door and verbally confronting Moss with expletives and challenges. Despite his efforts, Sherman was unable to gain entry, and the confrontation ended without further escalation.

Sherman’s recent DUI arrest adds another layer to his complex legal history, raising questions about his personal challenges since leaving the NFL. As the legal process unfolds, fans and observers are left wondering about the future of one of football’s most celebrated defenders.
