Shooting in Philadelphia: 1 dead, several injured

Philadelphia residents were left shocked when a shooting incident in North Philadelphia left 1 dead and as many as three police officers injured on early Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

Authorities revealed that the incident took place when a SWAT team of the Philadelphia Police Department tried to serve a warrant in connection with a homicide arrest at a home on Wednesday.

The shooting incident took place around 6:30 am local time at the 800 block of 10th Street which left 1 dead and several injured. One of the police officers who was injured was shot in the hip, while another was wounded in his leg. However, the third officer was shot in the chest.

All three were rushed to a nearby hospital and were announced to be stable at the time of transportation. 

However, the identities of the injured police officers have not been released by the authorities. No announcements regarding their present condition have also not been made so far.

Along with the police officers, a civilian also received injuries in the shooting incident on Wednesday morning. However, the authorities are yet to announce the present condition of the civilian victim, along with if the person was connected with the shooting. 

Information regarding the victim who died has also not been released by the authorities till now. However, Captain John Walker of the Philadelphia Police Department revealed that the dead victim was a suspect in the incident, who died after the SWAT officers returned fire after being shot.

The police also confirmed that they faced a barricade situation upon reaching the scene, which transpired into an active shooting.

No announcements have been made regarding the number of people at the home or the number of shooters till now. However, two children were seen to be taken to safety from the crime scene by police officers on television, which also showed three persons being arrested and taken away from the crime scene in handcuffs.
