Thea White, the famous voice behind Muriel Bagge of ‘Courage the Cowardly Dog’, died at age 81 on Friday, her family member, Brad Zitzner, announced on Facebook on Sunday. She died due to infection from surgery she underwent for liver cancer.

Zitzner wrote, “Sadly we lost our legendary Feefer (the voice of Muriel) on Friday morning after she fought hard with courage to try to beat her liver cancer and to resume life or to die trying. (She ended up with an infection after cutting out the da*n cancer).”

Born on June 16, 1940 in Newark, New Jersey, she graduated high school and studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and the American Theater Wing.

White was married to Andy White, who passed away in 2015.

Two days before her surgery, she recorded a video which Zitzner shared.

In the video, recorded on July 25, she told her family that she will join them soon on a holiday.

She joked on one video that she would recover in five minutes. Her surgery was to remove a tumor from her liver, John Zitzner wrote on Facebook. She had gone through one previous surgery as treatment for liver cancer just days before, his posts said.

Just days before her death, SyFy Wire released a trailer of an upcoming crossover feature between ‘Courage the Cowardly Dog’ and ‘Scooby-Doo’.

She was also known for voicing characters in cartoons such as ‘Corey in Pecola’ and Aunt Margaret in ‘Scooby-Doo’
