Los Angeles was rocked by a trio of earthquakes early Monday morning — the strongest being of 4.0 magnitude in the Lennox area — according to the US Geological Survey.

Centred in Lennox, which is just a few miles east of the Los Angeles International Airport, the quake was recorded at 4.44 am PT and was 19.9 km deep. The large temblor was felt across Southern California, CNN reported.

“This morning’s wake-up call was widely felt in the greater Los Angeles area,” USGS Earthquakes tweeted. “Unusually deep at ~20 km. Odds are high that nothing bigger will happen, but every felt quake is a reminder that California is earthquake country.”

Before, two earthquakes with magnitudes of 3.3 and 2.5 jolted the same area around 7.15 am ET.
