US House approves the $1.9 trillion COVID Relief bill

  • The final vote outcome was 220-211
  • Biden is expected to sign the bill on Friday
  • The US Senate sent the bill back to the House for final approval after various amendments

As one of the final steps in the legislative process of the US, on Wednesday, the House of Representatives has given a final nod to the COVID-19 relief bill, initially proposed by US President Joe Biden. The voting turnout was 220-211.

The bill was taken back to the House after the US Senate on Saturday proposed various amendments in the original bill and moved on to approve it for further due process. The recently passed legislature, expected to financially uplift those impacted by the pandemic, will go to the White House the President will give the final approval for implementation.

While the voting was in process, White House spokesperson Jen Psaki announced in a press briefing that Biden plans to sign the landmark bill into law on Friday. She said, “The President will sign the bill at the White House on Friday afternoon.”
