Washington DC to drop mask and COVID vaccine mandates, says Mayor Muriel Bowser

- The mask mandate will be lifted on March 1
Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, D.C., stated Monday that the city’s mask and indoor COVID-19 vaccine mandates will be phased down in the coming weeks.

The indoor vaccine mandate, which applies to restaurants, gyms, and music venues, will be withdrawn on February 15, the same day that D.C. residents must be completely vaccinated to comply with the mandate.
The mask mandate will be lifted on March 1, however masks will still be required in specific venues, including schools, congregate settings, nursing homes, daycare centres, and libraries.

Soon after the statement out of Washington, Montgomery County, Maryland’s council president Gabriel Albornoz said that the county’s indoor mask law would be phased out on February 21.
In the county of nearly 1 million citizens, he added, a blocked proposal for a vaccine mandate in enterprises will not move further.
