Were the jurors’ faces shown when Alex Murdaugh walked out of courtroom after guilty verdict in murder trial?

Alex Murdaugh was found guilty of the murders of his wife Maggie and son Paul on Thursday. The South Carolina jury gave a unanimous decision. The sentencing will be held on Friday.

Some social media users alleged that the jurors’ faces were shown on broadcast when Murdaugh walked out of the courtroom. Opoyi will not share any images or videos of the jury.

“Someone’s in trouble…. Jurors shown on tv as Alex walking out of courtroom,” a Twitter user said.

“@VinniePolitan why were jurors faces shown when #murdaghtrial was being lead out of the courtroom?” another one asked.

“Wow. Jurors on Murdaugh trial just inadvertently shown on tv. The judge is going to hear about that,” a third one tweeted.

The jury must remain anonymous. This is in order to prevent contamination of evidence and so the general public do not recognize them.

Alex Murdaugh was also held guilty of two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a brutal crime in the murders of his 52-year-old wife, Margaret “Maggie” Murdaugh and 22-year-old son, Paul Murdaugh on June 7, 2021.

Additionally, Murdaugh is accused of stealing more than $8 million and trying to get a man to kill him in a $10 million life insurance scheme. He admitted some of these crimes on the stand during this trial.

Murdaugh face expressed no emotions while the verdicts were being read. His only remaining son, Buster Murdaugh, could be seen wiping tears from his eyes. Murdaugh appeared to mouth “I love you” to Buster while he was being handcuffed.

Judge Clifton Newman, the Prosecution and the Defense decided to do sentencing for Alex Murdaugh on Friday morning starting at 9:30. Alex Murdaugh was placed in handcuffs and escorted out of the courtroom in silence.
