His lawyer, Abbe Lowell, told the court, “Mr. Biden pleads not guilty.” The charges stem from the president’s son allegedly lying about his drug use while he filled out forms to buy a Colt Cobra revolver in Wilmington.
The first two counts carry a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, while the third has a maximum of five years. Each count also carries fines of up to $250,000.
Hunter can also be charged in the inquiry into alleged tax evasion in the coming month.
Before the conclusion of the arraignment, the judge also went over the conditions of Hunter’s release and said he discussed them with the probation officer.
The conditions of release included supervision by a U.S. probation officer in the Central District of California, actively seeking employment, not possessing a gun, not using alcohol, and not using drugs. He was also required to submit to drug testing if required by the probation office. He also had to agree to participate in substance abuse counseling if the probation office required it.
