Who is Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat?

Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat announced his department’s preparation for former President Donald Trump’s potential indictment in the ongoing case related to his efforts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results.

If indicted, Labat plans to require Trump to take a mug shot and provide fingerprints. This would be Trump’s fourth indictment, and he is currently facing charges in Washington, D.C., including hush money payments to Stormy Daniels and handling of classified documents.

Who is Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat?

Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Labat, a member of the Democratic Party, assumed office as the 28th Sheriff of Fulton County, Georgia, on January 1, 2021. He has had an extensive career in public safety, with a decade serving as the Chief of the City of Atlanta Department of Corrections. Labat has a reputation as a decisive leader and change agent, and his leadership has motivated his workforce effectively.

As Chief of the City of Atlanta Department of Corrections, Labat achieved numerous successes, including maintaining a nationally accredited detention facility and pioneering youth diversion programs, senior citizen meal service programs, and the PAT3 reentry program. For his contributions to the field, he received the Jail Administrator of the Year award from the Georgia Jail Association in 2015 and 2019.

Labat’s vision for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office revolves around reducing crime and improving public safety, enhancing jail conditions for better use of tax dollars, addressing repeat offenders and reentry issues, and ensuring police review and accountability for the use of force.
