The individual suspected of assaulting a man and his child in a Brooklyn playground for wearing a Palestinian scarf has voluntarily surrendered to the police.
Who is Hadasa Karvavanibozak?
Hadasa Karvavanibozak, 48, turned herself in at the New York Police Department after being identified by law enforcement. The incident occurred at Edmonds Playground in Fort Greene on November 7, where Karvavanibozak allegedly confronted a 40-year-old father and his 18-month-old son.
Local residents in the vicinity of the playground took initiative by distributing printed photographs of the accused on walls and storefronts. Karvavanibozak is facing charges of a hate crime, reckless endangerment, and aggravated harassment.

Upon surrendering, it was confirmed by the police that Karvavanibozak was not the mother of the other child involved in the incident. According to the victim, the father, identified as Prashar, his son was playing with Karvavanibozak’s child when she approached and inquired if he supported Hamas. When Prashar declined to answer, the situation escalated, with the woman aggressively instructing him to leave. Prashar began filming the encounter, during which Karvavanibozak allegedly threw a cup of coffee and her phone in his direction.

While Prashar claims the woman called him a terrorist, the video captures her telling him to “Get away, get away, get away from me.” Subsequently, when he stopped recording, Karvavanibozak continued to approach Prashar, reportedly striking him on the hand multiple times. Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny stated that the identification of Karvavanibozak involved substantial investigative efforts, including CrimeStopper tips and computer work in the area.
