Who is John Paul Mac Isaac?
John Paul Mac Isaac said Biden brought his laptop to his shop for repairs on April 12, 2019. The next day, he dropped off an external hard drive but never came back to pay the $85 fee and pick up the equipment.
Isaac argued that Biden abandoned the laptop after 90 days. Isaac admitted examining the files and sharing the contents with the FBI and others, including former US President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, who published its contents publicly before the 2020 elections.
The files included photos of Hunter Biden using drugs, himself without clothes and in intimate relations with other adults.
Biden is now accusing the repair shop owner of invading his privacy and wrongfully using his personal data for political motives, according to federal court filings.
Biden’s attorneys also claimed that Isaac opposed the presidential candidacy of Hunter’s father, Joe Biden and gave his data to “political enemies” to help Trump in 2020.
Ronald Poliquin, Mac Isaac’s lawyer in the civil case said that their team was still reviewing Hunter Biden’s claims and would respond in court, reported CNN on Friday.
The filing from Hunter Biden’s attorneys outlined ways Mac Isaac provided data to others.
Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani, Steve Bannon and Republican political allies ultimately got access to some of Biden’s data, which had “sensitive, private material,” as per the lawsuit.
“The unauthorized accessing and dissemination of Mr Biden’s data is offensive and objectionable to Mr Biden, and would be highly offensive and objectionable to any reasonable person as they would not expect a computer repairman to copy and disseminate the private and confidential contents of someone’s data,” the lawsuit filed by Hunter Biden says.
The case was registered as a counter to one filed by Mac Isaac against Hunter Biden, CNN and others.
