Who is Mark Mechikoff? Suspect arrested for stabbing woman in San Francisco while reciting Bible
A man killed a lady in the San Francisco Bay Area by stabbing her to death on Wednesday while reciting Bible passages. He then uploaded a video of the murder to Facebook, according to the authorities.
The horrifying crime was originally brought to the attention of the Nye County Sheriff’s Office in Nevada by a caller who claimed to have seen a video of it online. The offender, eventually identified as Mark Mechikoff, 39, was tracked down by authorities with the help of the video.

Ryan Lenahan, who claimed to have known Mechikoff since childhood, said that he was horrified when he watched the video.
‘There was a person bleeding out, [he was] standing over the person, repeating Bible verses and other types of incoherent nonsense,’ Lenahan claimed. He also said that he posted a comment on the video labeling the suspect as ‘sick’ and messaged him to say: ‘Bro your [sic] disgusting I hope they have you in custody.’

Claribel Estrella, age 41, had been identified as the victim by the prosecution. According to the police, Estrella knew Mechikoff, but the details of their relationship were unclear and the district attorney claimed they were still looking into the motive behind the murder.
Mechikoff was taken into custody about 30 miles south of the San Mateo apartment complex where the victim’s body was discovered. Mechikoff was charged by the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office on Friday with a single count of murder with additional charges for causing serious bodily harm and using a knife.

He showed up in court but didn’t make a statement. His court-appointed attorney is still being selected, therefore his arraignment was postponed for a week, according to District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe.
The Gainesville Sun reports that Mechikoff has a criminal history, including pulling a knife on a woman in 2019. Mechikoff is presently being held without bond in the Maguire Correctional Facility. The video has been removed by Meta, the parent company of Facebook.
