Who is Mike Minihan? Four-star US Air Force general warning war with China in 2025

General of the US Air Force, Mike Minihan, claimed in a memo that he had a gut feeling the USA will go to war with China within the next two years. He claimed that the statements made by Pentagon authorities did not match up with evaluations made by the American military. According to the Air Force General, if China attempts to seize control of Taiwan, the United States will declare war.

Who is Mike Minihan?

Based at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, Mike Minihan has served in the US Air Force for 32 years. The four-star general of the Air Force also serves as commander of the 50,000-member Air Mobility Command. Born in 1967, Mike has been serving as the commander of Air Mobility Command for more than a year now, since October 5, 2021.

Mike Minihan’s statements about war: 

Instructing his officers to train service members “with the full understanding that unrepentant lethality matters most,” the Air Force general advised his troops to get ready for conflict with China within two years. “I hope I am wrong,” Minihan wrote to the leadership of its roughly 110,000 members. “My gut tells me will fight in 2025.”

Minihan also stated that 2024 will see presidential elections in the US and Taiwan, and these could present a chance for China to launch a military operation.

According to a US defense official, “These comments are not representative of the department’s view on China.” Although the general’s opinions do not necessarily reflect those of the Pentagon, they do indicate that the US military’s senior leadership is worried about a potential Chinese movement to impose authority over Taiwan. 

In recent weeks, the Chinese military has nearly consistently invaded Taiwan’s airspace and waterways as Beijing has sought to maintain control over the sovereign democracy that split away from China in 1949. The government of Taiwan claims it seeks peace but will fight back if attacked.
