Answer: New Jersey
Albert Einstein lived in the Albert Einstein House at 112 Mercer Street in Princeton, Mercer County, New Jersey, United States, from 1935 until his death in 1955. Elsa Einstein, his second wife, died in this residence in 1936.
In that same year, Princeton Theological Seminary was established, displacing the house at 108 Mercer. The house is a conventional pattern-book cottage with no unique significance.
According to the transaction recorded by the Mercer County Clerk’s Office on August 1, 1935, Elsa Einstein purchased the residence from Mary Clark Marden on July 24, 1935, for an undisclosed fee.
Albert Einstein shared the residence for many years with his sister Maja, his stepdaughter Margot Einstein-Marianoff, and his secretary Helen Dukas.
According to reports, Albert Einstein requested that this house not be turned into a museum, and the family did not want it to be recognised as one. Despite this, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 and later declared a U.S. National Historic Landmark.
The mansion was owned by Albert Einstein’s sculptor stepdaughter Margot Einstein until her death in 1986.
Despite the fact that it is held by IAS (Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton), the home is currently a private property and is not open to the public. There is no historical monument detailing the property’s significance; nonetheless, “Private Residence” markers are strategically placed around the house.
