Your travel pictures of “hot tub back shot” and “hot dog legs” might seem perfect and Instagram-worthy to you but New Zealand is bored of your posts!

Under a new tourism campaign, New Zealand is urging travellers to stop copying other travel photos they see online, and instead, “share something new.”

In a two-minute-long video, comedian Tom Sainsbury, who is a member of the “Social Observation Squad (SOS),” follows tourists to some famous spots of New Zealand and urges them to stop travelling “under the social influence.”

At the start of the campaign, Sainsbury says, “I have been alerted to a situation that’s been happening a lot lately. People have been seeing those photos on social media, and they’re going to great lengths to copy them.”

Swiping travel photos on Instagram, Sainsbury says, “You know them. Hot tub back shot. Man sits quietly on the rock contemplating. Hot dog legs.”

The video, a part of the ‘Do Something New’ campaign of New Zealand, comes at a time when travelling is mostly restricted in most of the parts of the world amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Under this campaign, previously, a song has been released by local celebrities, Madeleine Sami and Jackie van Beek.

Even though New Zealand has declared itself to be free from coronavirus, which has killed over 2.15 million people globally, the nation has kept its borders closed.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Tuesday announced that the nation’s border will remain closed for most of 2021, although, New Zealand will pursue travel arrangements neighboring Australia and other Pacific nations.
