Nkunku signs new RB Leipzig deal, snubs Man Utd, other Premier League clubs
- Christopher Nkunku has signed an extension with RB Leipzig that will keep him at the club till 2026
- His release clause has been set at €60 million
- The 35-goal forward was linked to several clubs, most notably Manchester United
In-demand forward Christopher Nkunku, linked to several Premier League clubs, has signed a new deal with RB Leipzig, putting an end to speculation about a move this summer.
The 24-year-old Frenchman has signed an extension with Leipzig till June 2026, with a reported release clause of €60 million, which will come into effect on from the summer of 2023.
“I’m pleased to continue wearing the RB Leipzig shirt. After our great achievement in winning the DFP Pokal, it remained clear that my story here isn’t over yet – we want more!,” the 24-year-old told the Bundesliga club’s in-house media after signing the renewal.

Reports also suggest that Leipzig, in no way, will let Nkunku leave this summer, as the Frenchman is vital to their plans for the next season.
Leipzig’s move to tie down Nkunku for at least another year will come as a big blow to the several Premier League clubs interested in the Frenchman’s signature.
Although both Chelsea and Arsenal were reportedly in the fray, Manchester United were the favourites to make a move for Nkunku, and understandably so.

With new manager Erik ten Hag looking to rebuild the team and bring in fresh talent, Nkunku was understandably a target.
The Frenchman was on fire last season, scoring 35 goals and creating 19 in 50 appearances for Leipzig across all competitions, a return not many forwards in European football can boast of.
That being said, if Nkunku continues to be as prolific, there are many top clubs who could potentially afford him in the coming seasons, with €60 million unlikely to be considered excessive for a player of such rare quality.
