In a recently surfaced video on social media, Ciro Messi, the four-year-old son of Lionel Messi was seen innocently asking his cousin why the latter was crying after Argentina beat France to clinch the title of FIFA World Cup 2022 on Sunday, December 18.
Although it has been days since the much-coveted tournament came to a fitting end, unseen photos and videos from the historic day have been making the rounds and the following video is no different. As Lionel Messi became the second Argentine football legend to lift the World Cup trophy after all-time great, Diego Maradona, 36 years ago, his family could no longer contain their emotions up in the stands.
They were seen bursting into tears and hugging each other, except for one noticeable young man — Ciro Messi, who stopped playing with what appeared to be a wooden spoon to be perplexed at the dramatic scene that was unfolding before his eyes.
You can see the adorable video below:
Ciro looked around confused and then turned to his red and teary-faced cousin sitting next to him to ask one very important question — “Why are you crying?” It seemed that the concept of tears of joy seemed to evade the little one. An emotional cousin then proceeded to give him an answer that was inaudible to the camera.
After having his curiosity quenched, Ciro went back to playing with his wooden spoon.
Ciro has two other siblings, both of them elder than him — Thiago, 10, and Mateo, 7. Ciro was born on March 10, 2018.
Both his father and mother have tattoos dedicated to Ciro on their bodies. Speaking about his youngest son, Messi said in October 2022 that Ciro was still developing his personality. However, he added that he was already taking after his older brother. “He copies Mateo a lot, and they go against me a lot.”
