- Donald Trump called off his presser scheduled for January 6
White House said that former United States President Donald Trump has “singular responsibility” for the “chaos and carnage” that broke out about one year earlier at the US Capitol complex in Washington DC. The statement comes a day before the January 6 riots anniversary.
Jen Psaki, the White House Press Secretary said in a statement that Biden will “lay out the significance of what happened in the Capitol and the singular responsibility President Trump has for the chaos and carnage, according to reports from Reuters.

She added that Biden will “forcibly push back on the lies spread by the former president in an attempt to mislead the American people and his own supporters as well as distract from his role in what happened.”
A day before the statement, Psaki said that Biden will “speak the truth” at an address slated for Thursday at the United States Capitol. Vice President Kamala Harris is also scheduled to deliver an address.
Harris’ address will revolve around America’s democracy and will “outline that the American experiment is being tested”, according to a Reuters report citing an administration official.
Psaki said Biden has clarity about “the threat the former president represents to our democracy” further accusing him of trying to “constantly undermine basic American values and rule of law.”

Meanwhile, the former President has called off his January 6 speech saying he will be touching base on similar topics in an address scheduled for later this month.
Trump had been expected to use the press conference to rail against the congressional committee investigating the events of January 6, when a mob of his supporters violently stormed the Capitol in an effort to halt the peaceful transfer of power, and to repeat his lies about the 2020 election.
