Ifeanyi, son of Davido and partner Chioma Rowland, dies in pool accident

The three-year-old son of Nigerian singer and songwriter Davido and his partner Chioma Rowland drowned in a pool accident on Monday. BBC reports that Lagos State Police is questioning eight domestic workers who worked at the singer’s house in Banana Island, Lagos, the capital of Nigeria.
The Daily Mail reported that Davido’s son was underwater for a long time before being noticed and later transferred to the hospital. He was declared dead upon being taken to the hospital.

“We are reviewing the CCTV cameras to get additional information about the circumstances of his death,” Lagos police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin told the BBC. “His body has been deposited in the morgue. We are in touch with his parents. In fact, they were with us last night,” he added.
Hundeyin also confirmed that the investigation is still open and anyone with proven involvement in the incident will be arrested.

“Domestic staff at Davido’s home have been taken to the station to give their own account of what happened, I wouldn’t call that arrest yet,” he further said.
“After they all give their accounts of what happened and after preliminary investigations are over if anyone of them is found culpable, the person will be placed under arrest.”
Reports say that Davido and his wife Chioma Rowland were not at home when the incident happened. They have also so far not said anything about the incident.

Davido’s real name is David Adeleke and he is considered one of the greatest in the Afrobeat music genre. He has won the MTV award and the BET music award and collaborated with stars like Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj.
