Russian troops on Friday bombarded the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv with rockets, before fighting reached the streets of the capital and Russian tanks were filmed entering the besieged city. It took Russian troops only a day to reach the capital after they entered the country from the east, as well from the Belarus-Ukraine border 160 kilometres from Kyiv. While Western leaders have sanctioned Russia in a bid to pressure Moscow into ceasing hostilities, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Western sanctions are not enough to deter Russia from what appears to be a full-scale invasion of the eastern European country.
