Less than a week after four members of an Indian-American family were kidnapped and killed in Merced, an overnight shooting at the county has once again been handed a shock to the residents. The shooting resulted in the death of one person, while three more were injured, the Merced Police Department has confirmed.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the shooting on early Saturday morning that resulted in four people being shot. According to the Merced Police Department, it received a report of a shooting at a parking structure near the city hall at around 3 am on October 8.

Soon after reaching the scene, the police found four people with gunshot wounds, one of whom died whereas three others were injured. Following the incident, the parking structure has been closed down as detectives and other personnel from the Merced Police Department are processing the crime scene.

The crime scene is across the street from the city hall, where the victims were found by the authorities. It is situated on M and 19th Street in Merced County, California, United States.

While one of the gunshot victims died on the scene, the other three were transported to a nearby hospital quickly. However, information regarding their conditions at present has not been released by the authorities.

The Merced Police Department is currently without the description of the shooter behind the crime. The authorities are urging residents with relevant information to come forward and contact Detective Steven Odom or Detective Raymond Valadez, the contact details of whom have been published on the department’s Facebook page.

Gun violence is on the rise in the United States and this incident comes days after four members of an Indian-American family, including an eight-month-old child. The corpses of the family members were recovered from an orchard near the Indiana and Hutchinson roads, Vern Warnke, the Merced County Sheriff revealed.

“Our worst fears have been confirmed. We found the four people from the kidnapping and they are in fact deceased,” Warnke said.
