Olympic 100 metre hurdles champion Brianna McNeal has been provisionally
suspended for doping violations, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Thursday, AFP reported.
The 29-year-old American, who won the Olympic gold in Rio de Janeiro in
2016 and also won world gold in Moscow in 2013, was charged with ‘tampering’
with part of a doping control.
McNeal has served a one-year ban in 2017 for missing three drug tests in
a 12-month span, causing her to miss the
2017 World Championships. An arbitration panel believed that McNeal was a clean
athlete and did not need to avoid any testing.
McNeal ranks seventh among Americans in the 100 metre hurdles
since the beginning of 2019.
