Plane crashes into Mount Bogart in Alberta, Canada, kills 6 people

Six people lost their lives in a plane crash on Friday night in the mountains west of Calgary, Alberta, CBC reported. The small aircraft, a Piper PA32, was carrying five passengers and one pilot, departing from Springbank Airport for Salmon Arm, B.C., where they were heading to attend a church function.

Distress arose when contact with the plane was lost around 9:30 p.m., leading to a search operation initiated after the plane was reported overdue.

Amid challenging mountainous terrain in Kananaskis Country, roughly 100 kilometers from Calgary, emergency crews traced the emergency locator transmitter to the crash site.

No survivors were found, and the identities of the victims have not been disclosed. The Alberta RCMP, along with various response agencies, extended their deepest condolences to the families affected by this tragedy.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is currently investigating the incident involving the Piper PA32 aircraft, as investigators work to determine the cause of the crash.

The crash site was located approximately five kilometers north of Kananaskis Village, adding to the difficulty of recovery operations due to the remote and rugged location on the mountain face of Mount McGillivray.
