Premier League: 10-man Aston Villa thumped by West Ham
- West Ham United registered a 4-1 win over 10-man Aston Villa
- David Moyes' men were aided by Ezri Konsa’s sending off in the 50th minute
- Ollie Watkins equalised in the 34th minute
Backing up their exploits last season, West Ham United have yet again moved to fourth place on the Premier League points table with a 4-1 win over 10-man Aston Villa on Sunday.
David Moyes’ men were aided by Ezri Konsa’s sending off in the 50th minute with the score at 2-1. After a VAR review, the Villa defender was given a yellow card for tripping Jarrod Bowen on the edge of the penalty area, but it was overturned to a red card for denying a clear goal opportunity.

Bowen was not to be denied for long, as he clinched the victory with a strike from the left side of the penalty box in the 84th minute.
Dean Smith, the under-fire Villa coach, started Jamaican attacker Leon Bailey for the first time in the Premier League, while David Moyes started with the same lineup that started last weekend’s triumph over Tottenham.
Declan Rice passed out to the right for Ben Johnson, who cut back inside and curled a low shot into the far corner of the net with his left boot in the seventh minute, giving Moyes’ team the lead.

In the 34th minute, Ollie Watkins equalised, but that was as good as it went for the home team and their increasingly disgruntled supporters.
Rice put the visitors back in front four minutes later with a 25-meter (yard) shot that snuck in through the post.

In the 90th minute, Pablo Fornals tapped in a rebound to make it 3-1, and Bowen sealed it four minutes later to assure Villa’s fourth straight league defeat.
West Ham and Manchester City are tied for the third position with 20 points. With 10 points from ten games, Villa is in 15th place.
