Following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s revelatory interview with Oprah, Buckingham Palace may consider hiring a Diversity Chief according to a royal source.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that a royal family member raised the issue of the complexion of their unborn child, about how dark the child could be. The couple confirmed that it was not the Queen or Prince Philip.

“Diversity is an issue which has been taken very seriously across the Royal Households,” a royal source said Sunday. “We have the policies, the procedures and programmes in place but we haven’t seen the progress we would like in terms of representation and more needs to be done, we can always improve,” the source was quoted as saying by CNN.

“The work to do this has been underway for some time now and comes with the full support of the family. Lots of measures are being considered. Certainly, the idea of someone to spearhead this work and look at diversity/inclusion across the three households is something that has to be considered. It is too early however for any firm plans to be announced. We are listening and learning, to get this right,” added the source.

While several speculations are doing the rounds in British media, the source added that this was “something that has to be considered,” and that it is too early to make an official announcement, reported CNN.

Prince William last week told reporters that the Royal Family is “very much not a racist family,” after Buckingham Palace said the claims by Harry and Meghan are being taken seriously  “while recollections vary” and would be addressed privately.

The Palace has hired an external law firm to investigate claims about Meghan bullying a former royal staff member.

The head of the UK Society of Editors resigned from his post after he refused to acknowledge the problem about the racist coverage in the British Press which Meghan and Harry spoke off in the interview.
