He was one of the longest-serving MPs in the UK Parliament and represented Southend West, Essex, since 1997.

Amess was one of the richest and popular UK politicians. David Amess’s net worth is estimated to be around $1.5 million, according to media reports. His main source of income was salary and allowances he received as an MP and for other positions, he worked on. He was a member of parliament for 38 years but never held a ministerial or shadow ministerial post.
Amess earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and government from Bournemouth University. He taught at St John the Baptist Primary School in Bethnal Green for a year (1970–71), and also worked as an underwriter and recruitment consultant.

David Amess died on October 15, 2021. Amess was receiving treatment at the scene before he succumbed. Police arrested a man following the stabbing and also recovered a knife from the scene.
