What is Trooping the Colour, significance behind it?
King Charles is the guest of honor at Trooping the Colour. The 74-year-old King was honored at London’s inaugural Trooping the Colour of his reign on Saturday.
King Charles donned the Welsh Guards’ Guard of Honour Order uniform for the occasion. The monarch is dressed in the uniform of the regiment whose colors are being paraded. He also wore the customary blue garter sash-adorned bearskin hat. The cypher of their predecessor is displayed on the royal uniform, hence King Charles’ outfit had the cypher of his mother, Queen Elizabeth.

For more than 260 years, the Trooping of the Color has symbolized the official birthday of the British Sovereign.
Each June, to commemorate the Sovereign’s formal birthday, approximately 1400 parading soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians come together in a magnificent display of military prowess, horsemanship, and fanfare.
As the parade travels from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guard’s Parade while passing Members of the Royal Family on horses and in carriages, the streets are lined with spectators waving flags.
Members of the Royal Family watch an RAF fly-by from the balcony of Buckingham Palace as the show comes to a close.
The 1st Battalion Welsh Guards will “troop their colour,” or offer their flag, at Horse Guard’s Parade while King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other members of the royal family look on. The Life Guards and the Blues and Royals, Princess Anne’s regiment serving as Colonel-in-Chief, will be particularly assigned to accompany the King.
Following the presentation, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the rest of the royal family will ride on horseback or in a horse-drawn carriage back to Buckingham Palace. The March Past and flypast, a beloved part of Trooping the Color, will then be seen by the King and his family as they step outside on the balcony.
