Who is Dame Alison Rose? NatWest CEO pressured by government to resign due to concerns over her conduct
The government is putting pressure on Dame Alison Rose, the chief executive of NatWest, to step down. According to information provided to BBC News, Downing Street and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt have “significant concerns” about her behavior.
Hunt has stated that Rose’s handling of the closure of Nigel Farage’s bank accounts has raised “significant concerns” for him. Dame claimed she committed a “serious error of judgment” when she spoke to a BBC reporter about Farage’s business dealings with the private bank Coutts, which is a subsidiary of the NatWest Group.

Who is Dame Alison Rose?
British banker Dame Alison Marie Rose-Slade DBE serves as the chief executive of NatWest Group. She assumed the position of CEO on November 1, 2019, succeeding Ross McEwan.
After overseeing government inquiries into the underrepresentation of women in business, Alison Rose became the first woman to head a significant UK lender. In 2023, she was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

In 1992, Rose began her career with National Westminster Bank as a graduate trainee. On February 27, 2014, she was chosen to serve on RBS’s executive committee. She was chosen in September 2018 to head the Treasury’s investigation into obstacles facing women in business. She joined NatWest Holdings as deputy chief executive in November 2018.
In the 2023 New Year Honours, Rose received the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for contributions to the financial services sector. Later that month, Dr. Heather Melville, the new Chancellor of York University, presented her with an honorary degree.

With regard to her personal life, Rose is married to UBS banker David Slade. The couple has two children: a son and a daughter. She resides in London’s Highgate with her family.
