Blaine Gibson, an adventurer who found at least 20 plane debris – some of which are “highly likely” to have come from missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 _ was one of the people interviewed for Netflix’s MH370: The Plane That Disappeared.
The docuseries circled around the greatest aviation mystery. Since the first debris was found on Reunion Island on July 2015, Gibson went on a solo mission to find more debris from the plane. By the end of his search, he had found at least 20 plane debris. However, his efforts were met with several threats and accusations.

While Gibson insists he only wants to get the truth about what happened to Flight MH370, Jeff Wise – American author and television journalist who wrote The Plane That Wasn’t There: Why We Haven’t Found MH370 – claimed that the debris hunter was linked to Russia. According to Wise, the disappearance of Flight MH370 was likely a Russian conspiracy and the plane’s debris was planted on Reunion Island and other nearby countries, including Madagascar, as part of a coverup.
Who is Blaine Gibson?
Blaine Gibson, who is a lawyer by profession, describes himself as an adventurer and has travelled to different corners of the world in order to investigate incidents that interest him. Before focusing on the disappearance of MH370, Blaine went over to Siberia, where he looked at the Tunguska meteor. He spent a few years in Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

After Gibson managed to find few pieces of plane wreckage, many accused him of being a Russian spy. Rumors surfaced that Gibson was planting debris across the East African shore. He and his friends received personal death threats, some of which got so concerning that he had to go into hiding for several years.
Gibsom currently resides in Seattle, Washington, however, he has said that he doesn’t spend much time in the United States.
