When a COVID-19 shutdown left a Chinese woman stranded in the man’s residence, a blind date evolved into a four-day struggle.

According to Yahoo News, the COVID detainee, named only as Ms. Wang, explained how she got herself in the “not ideal” situation for four days on the social media platform WeChat last week.

According to Agence France-Presse, more than 100 cases of the sickness have been reported in the central city of Zhengzhou since last week, as China continues to battle the Delta and Omicron varieties.

Wang stated she had recently come to Zhengzhou for a weeklong visit in search of potential suitors ahead of the Lunar New Year.

“Just after I arrived in Zhengzhou, there was an outbreak and his community was put under lockdown and I could not leave,” she told Shanghai-based outlet The Paper on Tuesday, according to AFP.

“I’m getting old now, my family introduced me to 10 matches… The fifth date wanted to show off his cooking skills and invited me over to his house for dinner,” she added.

However, things took an unexpected turn when the man’s residence was placed under lockdown, preventing Wang from leaving.

She claimed the man cooked for her over their lengthy relationship, but she lamented the fact that he wasn’t particularly chatty.

“Besides the fact that he’s as mute as a wooden mannequin, everything else (about him) is pretty good,” she said. “Despite his food being mediocre, he’s still willing to cook, which I think is great.”

The woman published scenes from her time in lockdown on social media, including her date showing off his less-than-stellar culinary abilities, doing domestic chores, and working on his laptop.

Wang removed the tapes after her plight went public to avoid drawing unwanted attention to the unnamed man.

“Friends have been calling him and I think this has definitely affected his life, so I have taken them down for now,” she said in a video.

“Thanks everyone for your attention… I hope the outbreak ends soon and that my single sisters also find a relationship soon,” Wang, who is still looking for love, added.
