Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is reportedly on the verge of joining Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain this summer as the club plans a revamp of its managerial team.

According to beIN journalist Omar Altundag, the former Real Madrid manager has been offered an “obscene” deal, a deal that the French World Cup winner is “very likely” to agree to.

Despite Mauricio Pochettino leading PSG to victory in Ligue 1 in his debut season with the club, the Argentine’s position has come under increasing scrutiny, with reports suggesting that PSG owner, the Emir of Qatar, is overseeing the managerial transition himself.

As part of the ongoing revamp, PSG have already appointed Luis Campos as the club’s new sporting director, with the Portuguese set to replace the outgoing Leonardo Araujo.

According to PSG, the newly appointed Campos will be “in charge of the organisation, recruitment and performance of the Paris Saint-Germain men’s professional team,” and it is understood that the Portuguese could be a key figure in roping Zidane in for the Parisian side.

As for Zidane, the Frenchman has made no indication on what his future holds. However, having been out of a job since helping Real Madrid win three Champions League trophies, the right offer could certainly have the potential to lure the World Cup winner to the Parc des Princes.

Beyond the financial side of the reported offer, taking charge of PSG would also allow Zidane to work closely with Kylian Mbappe, who recently renewed his contract after snubbing Real Madrid, a chance that Zidane is likely to cherish, especially ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.
