Academy-award winning music composer and singer AR Rahman, who has made India proud on several occasions and has been an inspiration to many young singers, turns 54 on Wednesday.
Also known as ‘The Mozart Of Madras,’ Rahman made his debut as music composer in 1992 with Mani Ratnam's ‘Roja.’ There was no looking back for the Grammy recipient since as he went on to compose hit songs for several Bollywood movies, including ‘Bombay’, ‘Yuva’, ‘Dil Se’, ‘Saathiya’, ‘Highway’ and ‘Raanjhana’ among others. He also composed songs for Hollywood films including ‘127 Hours’ and ‘Lord Of War.’
Rahman bagged several prestigious awards including two academy awards, two Grammy awards, a Golden Globe award, a BAFTA awards and four national awards. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2010 by the Government of India.
