A video of a woman ragpicker from Bengaluru speaking fluent English is going viral on social media. In the video shared on Instagram by Shachina Heggar, the woman can be seen talking to Heggar in English.
In the first video, the woman introduced herself as Cecilia Margaret Lawrence with a small jingle in fluent English. The video was shared on August 11. It has received thousands of views and several comments.
Lawrence can been seen with a bright flower tucked in her hair, a blue saree and carrying a Bible. As Heggar asks her if she’s alone, she promptly shows the book to say that God is always with her.
The ragpicker also shared how she used to live in Japan for many years. Her delightful personality makes the video worth a watch.
Netizens loved the clips and shared their appreciation for Lawrence. Many also requested Heggar for her contact details to help her out. “This is so inspiring... She is not alone... I loved how she said that she is not alone.. God bless her,” wrote an Instagram user. “I bet she has a lot of stories to tell,” commented another.
One user commented how she reminded her of Nina Simone for some reason.
In July last year, Raisa Ansari caught the attention of netizens when a video of her protest went viral in the social media. The woman vegetable seller was spotted opposing the municipal authorities who had visited the area to remove vegetable carts as a part of lockdown measures. Raisa talked about her concerns to the authorities in fluent English. She was later identified to be a former PhD scholar in Material Science from Indore's Devi Ahilya University.
