After agreeing to step down as Britney Spears' conservator last month, the pop singer's father Jamie on Tuesday filed a petition to end his daughter's conservatorship.

In a petition filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Spears argued that the conservatorship may no longer be required as the circumstances in his daughter's life have changed, NBC News reported.

American singer Britney Spears had been making headlines with her conservatorship row against her father since 2008. She alleged that her father refrained her from getting married and start a family. The statements were made during a court hearing to end the "abusive" guardianship, as she calls it. The singer-songwriter has been under the legal conservatorship involving her father, James 'Jamie' Spears, since 2008.

"I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby. I have (an) IUD inside of (me) right now so I don’t get pregnant," alleged Britney in court.
