Indian education technology firm Byju’s on March 24 was named as one of the official sponsors of the FIFA World cup 2022, scheduled to be held in Qatar.

The Bengaluru-based ed-tech firm also sponsors the Indian cricket team and said the deal was its first major step into soccer. Byju’s has become the first Indian company to sponsor FIFA World Cup.

“We are delighted to announce that BYJU’S would represent India at the biggest stage as an Official Sponsor of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. This would make BYJU’S the first EdTech brand to sponsor this prestigious event globally,” the company said.

Byju’s can now access FIFA World Cup’s brand, emblem, and assets to create unique promotions and use them to reach passionate football fans all over the world.

Although, the Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Byju’s is planning to create engaging and creative educational content for the young soccer fans as part of a multi-faceted activation plan.

“It is a matter of pride for us to represent India on such a prestigious global stage and champion the integration of education and sport,” said BYJU’S founder and CEO Byju Raveendran in a statement.

“We’re delighted to be partnered with a company like BYJU’S, which is also engaging communities and empowering young people wherever they may be in the world,” Goal.com quoted FIFA’s Chief Commercial Officer Kay Madati as saying.

The deal comes after FIFA on Tuesday announced that it has entered into a partnership agreement with Singapore-based Crypto.com for the World Cup, which is slated to be held from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
