A Chinese PLA soldier, who was apprehended on January 8 on the Indian side of Line of Actual Control (LAC), was handed back to China at 10.10 am on Monday at Chushul-Moldo, the Indian Army said.
On Friday, the Indian Army held a Chinese soldier, who had transgressed across the LAC and was taken into custody around the Rezang La heights area. The soldier was being dealt with as per the laid down procedures, the Indian Army said.
China on Saturday demanded the immediate return of the soldier who “went astray.”
The People’s Liberation Army, in a statement on its official website, said, “Due to darkness and complicated geography, a soldier of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army frontier defence force went astray in the China-India border early Friday morning.”
The capture of the PLA soldier comes amid the ongoing border standoff between the Indian and the Chinese Army since May in eastern Ladakh.
