Cyrus Mistry, former chairman of Indian conglomerate Tata Sons, died on Sunday afternoon after his car hit a divider in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. He was 54.

Four people were travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai when the accident occurred at around 3:15 pm on the bridge on the Surya river.

Cyrus and another person, identified as Jahangir Binshah Pandole, died on the spot. The driver, identified as Anahita Pandola, and her husband, Darius Pandole, were injured and taken to nearby hospital for treatment. 

“The accident occurred on the bridge over the Surya river, killing Mistry and another person on the spot while two others have been shifted to Gujarat for further treatment,” said Palghar district superintendent of police, Balasaheb Patil, PTI reported.

According to her profile on online doctor consultation app Practo, Anahita completed MBBS from Topiwala National Medical College & BYL Nair Charitable Hospital in 1990 and Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 1994 from the same institution. has over 30 years experience in this field. She also practices at Masina Hospital in Byculla, Mumbai. She is married to Darius Pandole.
